Around the HafenCity
After having visited Düsseldorf I started to develop a strong interest for harbour cities, especially European ones, so I decided to pay a visit to Germany’s most famous harbour: Hamburg. This rainy city-state in the North of Germany decided to move its industrial harbour more to the South of the city, so they could reconstruct the historical district and create space for new apartments, offices and cultural facilities. This district is now called HafenCity and is home to the famous Elbphilharmonie designed by Herzog & de Meuron.
